I really am inspired by the B-17 books I read and, also, the Band of Brothers mini-series and books about the infintry in the European Theater. Normally, I don’t like violence and guns and death and so forth, so it is a curious thing that I am drawn to these two interests. Yes, the B-17 thing is because my dad was a co-pilot of B-17’s, but I think it is something more. The best I can figure is that I like these two areas because these guys did something that matters. I am drawn to that.

Exodus 16:2-3 — In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, "If only we had died by the LORD’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death."

In spite of their grumbling, God fed them.

But they still didn’t do what he asked.

Sounds like us.

Exodus 15:22-24 – Figures

For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water. When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah.) So the people grumbled against Moses, saying, "What are we to drink?"

Isn’t that just like us? How quickly we forget.

Exdous 14:13

Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again."

Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!"
